Otters Add College World Series Participant
Evansville, IN--The Evansville Otters professional baseball team has announced the signing of outfielder Brooks Bryan. Bryan, from Mississippi State University, played in the College World Series in Omaha the past two seasons for the Bulldogs, becoming the first Otter to have done so.
This spring at Mississippi State, Bryan hit .346 for the Bulldogs, with 9 home runs, 50 RBI, and 8 stolen bases. He was selected to the Academic All-SEC team for the second consecutive season. In 1997, Bryan hit .345 with 6 home runs; he was named Second-team All-Southeastern Conference. Mississippi State finished each season ranked #6 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 25 Pool.
Brooks Bryan will be taking the roster spot of first baseman John Donati. Donati left the team Thursday as a result of the death of his grandmother. Donati is expected to return to action when the Otters return to Bosse Field on Wednesday, July 22.
