A brief history of North High School:
North High School is one of five high schools in the Evansville-Vanderburgh
School Corporation. North was opened in 1956, built adjoining the then-called
Mechanic Arts School. In 1989 a major renovation to the existing facility
accomplished complete modernization, including air conditioning and carpet.
North offers a strong college preparatory curriculum and has one of the
largest Trade and Industry programs in the state.
Mission Statement:
The staff of North High School provides all students with a quality education
encompassing academic, vocational, social, physical, and life skills. The
staff also accepts the responsibility for educating students in a positive
learning environment, thereby enabling them to live and work successfully
in a highly competitive and technological society. The North High School
staff, as part of the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, makes this
committment and accepts this responsibility as it seeks the involvement
of parents, students, and community in fulfilling our mission.
School Goals:
1. Students view their education as meaningful and relevant.
2. Students are highly motivated to achieve with positive attitudes, high
self-esteem, realistic expectations, and an understanding that their behavior
has consequences.
3. Students will achieve a skill level necessary for education and social
success.
4. Parents/guardians take a positive active role in planning and implementing
the educational development of their children.
